WE RECENTLY ASKED DR. BURCHETT a few questions about her career. Here are her answers – thought you’d find them interesting!!
How old were you, and what made you decide you wanted to become a Dentist?
“I always wanted to be in the healthcare field since at least Kindergarten. I played a Doctor at my Kindergarten graduation. Instead of the normal cap & gown, my graduation had different roles, and I was a doctor. It really wasn’t until I was 17 that I decided I wanted to become a Dentist. At the end of High School I worked at a dental office and really enjoyed my time there, so that was the path I chose to take.”
Where did you attend school and how long have you been practicing?
“I finished my undergrad at UMBC and then I went to the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. I graduated dental school in 2008 and began practicing in two locations: one in Howard County and another in Baltimore County. In 2012, after two kids and moving to a new home in Eldersburg, my husband and I decided to open Freedom Dental Care. Owning my own dental practice in my neighborhood has been a dream of mine for quite some time. I love dentistry and love my neighbors/neighborhood, so what could be better than caring for the people I love being around?”
What advice would you give to a young person considering a career in Dentistry?
“I would advise youngsters to set their dreams and follow them. Dentistry is hard work, but worth it!”
What is one thing you find most satisfying about being a Dentist?
“I find many things enjoyable about being a dentist, but the most enjoyable is getting to know people and listening to their stories. On the dentistry side of things, I like to transform people’s smiles and see them beaming from ear to ear with a confidence they had been lacking for quite some time.”
We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Dr. Burchett better! And, as always, THANKS for being our valued patients and friends!
